What Mistakes To Avoid When Sending Files For Printing?

Whenever we want to print our products, we want them to be of the highest possible quality.

For this, we will indicate a series of tips to take into account to maximize their quality.

Print Size

The most important thing when printing a product is its size.

Whether it’s brochures, posters, or any type of printing, it always has an exact size.

The first thing to remember is to always make the design to the exact size of the product to be printed.

For example, if we want to make brochures in A5, we must always send them in that size.

In this way, later adaptation problems are avoided, giving us more work.

Safety Distances And Bleeding

The most important thing in the final finish of a product is that it is perfect. We must always consider the safety distance from the most important elements to the cut. For this, we will always leave a minimum safety distance of 3 mm between the important elements and the cutting of the material.

On the other hand, if we do not want our product to have white marks on the margins, we must add at least 2 mm of blood on each side. With this, we will make the design go “beyond” the cutting distance so that if the cut oscillates, the design will always remain “in blood.”

Spell Check

One of the most common printing problems is the text’s spelling. In all impressions, in prepress, you cannot review the texts by hand. To avoid problems, we should always check our designs for spelling before sending the design to print.

Sometimes automatic correction programs such as Word are used, but we recommend doing it manually since it can cause spelling errors.

Font Size

The minimum size of a text must be 6 points since if it is less than that size; it will be illegible or very tedious to read for anyone.

Also, the printing product’s size must be considered to adapt to each occasion.

For example, in the case of business cards, the minimum text will be 6 points, but if we want to make an A3 poster, which will be read from a greater distance, the minimum size will be much larger.

Another thing to keep in mind is the typography model. If we want our design to be fully legible, we must use fonts that are as clean and aesthetic as possible. Otherwise, it can cause problems and give the user reading problems.

Embedded Fonts.

This is the biggest printing problem regarding texts and fonts. When a final print document is sent to prepress, it must always be outlined or traced since the printing company may not have that typography in its library.

If we do not have it, the printing machine will directly change the text to another typeface, so the result will not be what we want.

Therefore, the most important thing when sending the final document is to do it with all the texts outlined/outlined.

Color (CMYK/RGB)

Full-color printing is always done in CMYK tonality. Therefore you should never send a document in an RGB profile.

Therefore, if we make a design in RGB, we will see it on the screen in one way, but when printing, it will be very different when printing in CMYK. The printing machine, in this case, directly adapts the profile from RGB to CMYK.

The RGB tones are much more “eye-catching,” and when done in CMYK, it “turns out” the tonality of the design a lot.

Therefore, it should always be taken into account to carry out the designs in CMYK tonality to see on the screen the tonality that is most similar to the final print.

Format Resolution

We must always take into account the final print quality of our product.

You should always work at a standard resolution of 300 dots per inch to ensure optimum print quality. If it is below this standard, the print will be of lower quality, and the result will not be correct.

For large formats, whether large-format posters, large-size canvases, etc., the resolution can be 150 dots per inch. That is, in all large-format products.

Design Professionals.

If you have doubts or do not know how to carry out this type of work, the ideal is to consult it and ask a professional for the work.

In each product on the web, you can find an extra design cost (In each case according to the product) so that we carry out the design you need according to your guidelines.
